K-Electric (KE) has appointed Syed Taha as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad. The appointment will take effect from April 15, 2026, according to a confirmation issued by the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Syed Taha brings extensive experience in Pakistan’s energy sector. He holds an engineering degree along with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration.
Since February 2020, Taha has served as the Managing Director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil, one of the country’s leading energy companies. Prior to this role, he worked internationally as an executive director at Oasis Energy, where he headed the Program Management Office of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria.
He has also previously served as Chief Distribution Officer at K-Electric and held various senior positions across multiple organisations, reflecting a diverse and robust professional background in power distribution and energy management.
The leadership change follows a period of transition within K-Electric. Interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad had taken charge after Moonis Alvi stepped down from his position last month.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Alvi described his tenure as an honour, expressing pride in working with a resilient and dedicated team. He also pledged support for a smooth leadership transition.
Alvi’s departure came after he was found guilty of workplace harassment in July 2025. The Sindh Provincial Ombudsman had ordered his removal and imposed a fine of Rs2.5 million.
Subsequently, the Sindh High Court disposed of a petition filed by Alvi after he withdrew his plea. The court also approved his request for the return of the deposited fine.
According to court proceedings, the then Sindh governor Kamran Tessori had accepted an appeal against the ombudsman’s order and set aside the original decision.
The appointment of Syed Taha marks a new phase for K-Electric as it navigates operational challenges and seeks to strengthen its leadership in Pakistan’s energy sector.
