Karachi Court Grants Bail to Natasha Danish and Husband in Karsaz Accident Case

A sessions court in Karachi has granted bail to Natasha Danish, the driver involved in the Karsaz accident, and her husband on manslaughter charges. The decision follows a statement from the victims' family, who have pardoned the accused and removed their objections.

The accident occurred on August 19 when a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by Natasha, collided with three motorcycles and another car on Karsaz Road, resulting in the deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amna, with three others injured. Natasha was subsequently arrested and charged.

Following the incident, a special investigation team was formed to probe the case. Natasha’s husband, Danish Iqbal, was also named as a suspect but was granted a seven-day protective pre-arrest bail by the Sindh High Court.

On August 28, Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon revealed that Natasha had been driving under the influence of methamphetamine (crystal meth). Consequently, a separate FIR was registered against Natasha under Section 11 of the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order (PEHO) of 1979.

Natasha was granted bail in the accident case but remained in custody pending the conclusion of the narcotics case. According to her defense counsel, Advocate Amir Mansoob Qureshi, bail amounts were set at Rs100,000 for Natasha and Rs50,000 for her husband. The hearing for the narcotics case is scheduled for Monday.

Barrister Aziz Ghouri, representing the victims' family, clarified that no blood money (diyat) was paid. The family forgave Natasha and her husband “in the name of Allah,” as stated in an affidavit. Ghouri emphasized that forgiveness was granted without any monetary settlement.

Defense counsel Qureshi confirmed that no travel restrictions were placed on Natasha, allowing her freedom to leave the country if she chooses. He also noted that the matter is resolved due to the family’s pardon.
