Karachi Heatwave Intensifies, Temperature May Reach 41°C

Karachi is set to experience an intense heatwave, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting temperatures to rise between 40°C and 41°C in the coming days. The situation is expected to worsen due to high humidity, pushing the “feels like” temperature to around 45°C, making conditions even more uncomfortable for residents.

According to the Met Office, most parts of the country are currently experiencing hot and dry weather, with Karachi also facing continued heat and humidity. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C a day earlier, while Nawabshah emerged as the hottest location in Pakistan, with temperatures reaching 47°C.

In response to the rising heat, the Sindh government has established heatwave camps across various districts of Karachi on the instructions of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. These camps aim to provide immediate medical assistance to citizens affected by extreme weather conditions.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures, including staying hydrated, avoiding unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak hours, and taking care of vulnerable individuals such as children and the elderly. The ongoing heatwave highlights the need for preparedness as climate conditions continue to intensify across the region.
