Kasim Khan Raises Alarm Over Imran’s Jail Conditions

Kasim Khan, the son of incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has voiced grave concerns over his father’s worsening prison conditions at Adiala Jail, calling them "torturous" and "inhuman."

Speaking to US-based Real America’s Voice, Kasim revealed that his father is being kept in solitary confinement, deprived of daylight, and forced to shower in muddy, dirty water. He emphasized the harsh conditions, saying, “Right now he’s in really, really poor conditions, and it looks like they’re getting worse and worse by the moment.”

Kasim and his elder brother Sulaiman Khan have recently launched a public campaign calling for their father’s release. The two had spoken publicly for the first time in May and are now seeking support from the US before heading to Pakistan.

“He went 10 days without any light in his cell. That’s a torture tactic,” Kasim said, adding that ten inmates had died due to unsanitary conditions.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, serving time in a £190 million corruption case, with additional cases pending under the Anti-Terrorism Act relating to the May 9, 2023 protests.

The PTI founder, who was barred from contesting the 2024 elections, still managed to rally support from behind bars, with Kasim stating:

“From a prison cell, he won the Feb 2024 elections — despite all the underhand rigging.”

Kasim also confirmed a meeting with Richard Grenell, a close aide of former US President Donald Trump, expressing hope about international support for the former Pakistani premier.

Meanwhile, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan confirmed that both sons would "definitely" return to Pakistan, highlighting that they hold NICOP cards and are legal citizens.

“If anything were to happen to Imran’s sons, it would become an international matter,” Aleema told reporters.

In response to speculation that Imran discouraged his sons from visiting Pakistan or joining protests, PTI strongly refuted the claims. The party’s Central Information Secretary, Waqas Akram, labeled such reports "completely false."

“Imran Khan Sahib has absolutely not stopped his children from coming to Pakistan,” Akram said, urging the media to report statements accurately and avoid misinterpretation.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif downplayed the issue, asserting that the government had no intention of stopping the sons from returning. “We don’t want PTI to pull off another May 9 or Nov 26,” he warned.

As the sons gear up for their return, global human rights organizations and international media are now being urged by PTI and supporters to investigate the conditions at Adiala Jail and raise pressure on the Pakistani authorities for humane treatment and fair trial proceedings.
