KP Assembly Speaker Urges CM Afridi to Form Cabinet Without Consulting Imran Khan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has reportedly advised Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to go ahead and form the provincial cabinet without consulting PTI founder Imran Khan.

Sources say Swati suggested that while changes can be made in the cabinet later after meeting Imran Khan, it is crucial for the provincial government to establish its cabinet immediately to ensure smoother administration and governance.

PTI Parliamentary Party Meeting

Meanwhile, the PTI parliamentary party held a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. According to PTI MLA Ehtesham Khan, the meeting resolved that party legislators would travel to Islamabad on Tuesday.

MLAs also plan to visit Adiala Jail following proceedings at the Islamabad High Court, highlighting the party’s continued efforts to engage with the PTI leadership despite Imran Khan’s incarceration.

Implications for KP Politics

The advice from the KP Assembly Speaker underscores the balancing act facing the provincial government: moving forward with administrative decisions while maintaining coordination with the PTI leadership. Analysts suggest that forming the cabinet promptly could help stabilize provincial governance amid ongoing political uncertainty.

The upcoming trips to Islamabad and Adiala Jail indicate that the PTI parliamentary party intends to remain actively involved in broader party matters, even as the provincial administration takes steps to ensure governance continuity.
