KP Chief Minister Urges PM to Release Federal Funds Amid Provincial Financial Crisis

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has formally written to Prime Minister, highlighting the province’s financial difficulties due to the non-payment of constitutionally mandated federal funds.

In the letter, the Chief Minister warned that delays in the transfer of funds are causing a “severe financial crisis” and negatively impacting provincial governance and the delivery of essential services.

The provincial budget had been prepared based on the constitutionally guaranteed financial allocations. However, the actual release of federal funds has fallen short of the budgeted targets, creating a gap in meeting both routine and development expenditures.

The letter also noted that the financial burden of national responsibilities is being disproportionately placed on the province, which could affect the province’s ability to meet its obligations effectively.

The Chief Minister urged the federal government to release the pending funds immediately to avert further financial strain and ensure smooth governance and service delivery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
