KP Governor Signals Readiness for No-Confidence Move

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has signaled that the opposition is closely watching the numbers game in the provincial assembly and is prepared to bring a no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister if it gains even one additional member.

In an interview with Geo News, the governor emphasized that the move would be within the bounds of democracy and should not be viewed as a conspiracy. “The opposition currently has 52 or 54 members in the KP Assembly,” he said. “The day we have even one more member, it will be our democratic right to bring a no-confidence motion.”

Kundi categorically denied that the opposition is engaged in any backdoor maneuvering to unseat Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. “This is not a conspiracy. We are just talking about democratic procedure,” he said, drawing a parallel to how Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders once supported no-confidence moves when they were politically expedient.

He challenged the PTI to prove its strength, saying, “If PTI has more numbers in the federal government or in Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh, they too should bring a no-confidence motion.”

Ongoing Political Dialogue

Kundi also confirmed ongoing political discussions with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, suggesting that dialogue channels remain open despite political rivalry.

Referring to recent statements by Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, Kundi said, “Aleema Khan claims Maulana Fazlur Rehman will not be part of any political action against PTI, and has even talked about a minus-Imran formula.”

The governor’s comments come amid an increasingly charged political atmosphere in KP, where PTI retains a narrow majority, but opposition alliances continue to explore options.
