Khankendi/Shusha, Azerbaijan –
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, scheduled to be held in Khankendi from July 3 to 4, with a focus on promoting regional development and prosperity through economic integration.
The high-profile summit brings together heads of state and government, foreign ministers, ECO observers, and special guests from non-ECO countries, as well as representatives of international organizations. The agenda includes regional cooperation, sustainable growth, trade facilitation, and energy connectivity across member states.
Accompanying the prime minister on this diplomatic visit are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
The Pakistani delegation landed in the historic city of Shusha, where they were received by Azerbaijan’s Minister for Culture Adil Karimli at Fuzuli Airport, ahead of their participation in the summit in Khankendi.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to regional cooperation, connectivity, and economic diplomacy. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to deliver a keynote address at the summit and hold bilateral meetings with several regional leaders to discuss trade, investment, and strategic partnerships.
The ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising 10 member states including Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, and Central Asian countries. It aims to foster sustainable development and promote closer economic ties across the region.
