POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Reports claiming that security had been withdrawn from former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur sparked confusion on Tuesday, but the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar officially denied the claims.
Ali Amin Gandapur, in a message to the PTI parliamentary party WhatsApp group, stated that around 11 pm he was informed by the Deputy CSO of the Chief Minister that his security personnel had been ordered to “close.” Gandapur said that at the time, he had a jammer, a government double-cabin vehicle, and 14 officials assigned to him.
“I told them to just close. This is the real truth of the matter,” he added. Gandapur further clarified that even if security were restored now, he would not reclaim it, emphasizing that there is no need for the Chief Minister to reinstate the security detail.
Responding to the reports, the press secretary of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa firmly denied that any security had been withdrawn from the former chief minister, calling the claims “unfounded.”
The incident underscores ongoing public interest in the security arrangements of former provincial leaders and highlights the communication gaps that can arise between officials and the public regarding sensitive security matters.
