Lahore Court Extends PTI Activist Falak Javed’s Remand

A local court in Lahore has extended the physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Falak Javed by four more days in two separate cases.

Falak, the sister of PTI leader Sanam Javed, was presented before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo at the District Courts Lahore on Saturday by officials of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency, following the completion of her earlier four-day physical remand. The agency sought further remand, arguing that more time was required to complete the investigation.

Her lawyer strongly opposed the request, terming it unnecessary and unjustified. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its decision before announcing a four-day extension of her physical remand.

According to case details, Falak Javed faces allegations of tweeting against the state and uploading an inappropriate picture of a provincial minister. Both cases were registered under cybercrime laws and related penal code sections.

The extension in remand has drawn criticism from PTI supporters, who view it as part of a broader crackdown on party activists. Meanwhile, officials maintain that the investigation is ongoing and more evidence needs to be examined.

The next hearing is expected after the completion of the newly extended remand period.
