The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Wednesday granted bail to Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, who was facing a blasphemy case registered in Jhelum. The decision was issued by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan.
According to the court order, Mirza has been directed to submit two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each as part of the bail conditions.
A blasphemy case had earlier been lodged against Mirza in Jhelum, leading to his arrest. Prior to today’s development, he was detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and shifted to jail.
Mirza, known for his religious lectures and online teachings, has faced multiple controversies over the years. His legal team argued before the court that the charges required further scrutiny and that he deserved relief pending the legal process.
Following the grant of bail, further proceedings in the main case are expected to continue before the relevant trial court.
