Security sources confirmed on Wednesday that Gul Rehman alias Ustad Mureed, a senior commander of the banned outfit Fitna-ul-Hindustan and the mastermind of the Jafar Express attack, has been killed in Afghanistan.
According to details, Rehman was reportedly targeted in Afghanistan’s Helmand province on September 17, 2025. Indian media and social media channels have also reported his death.
Rehman was known as a trainer and operational commander of the Fitna-ul-Hindustan Majeed Brigade, playing a central role in organizing and directing terrorist activities across the region. Sources said he was involved in numerous attacks targeting Pakistani security forces, Chinese nationals, civilians, and key infrastructure projects, including those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The group’s most notorious act came earlier this year in March, when terrorists attacked the Jafar Express in the Bolan area of Balochistan. The brutal assault claimed 26 lives, while Pakistani security forces killed 33 terrorists in a subsequent operation and rescued more than 350 hostages.
Officials described Rehman’s killing as a major blow to Fitna-ul-Hindustan, which has repeatedly targeted unarmed civilians and sought to disrupt Pakistan’s strategic projects. His death, they said, underscores the regional fight against terrorist safe havens and networks operating across borders.
