Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly refused to sign the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) newly issued central contract for 2025–26, insisting on being told the reasons behind his exclusion from the national T20 squad.
According to reliable sources, Rizwan has set conditions before signing the deal, the foremost being that the PCB disclose the reasons for his omission from the T20 lineup.
The wicketkeeper-batter, who was placed in the B category of the new central contracts, is said to be deeply dissatisfied with the decision to drop him from the T20 squad, especially given his consistent performances in past series.
Sources within the PCB revealed that 30 players were issued central contracts for the 2025–26 season, and all have signed except for Rizwan.
While the board has not yet commented officially on Rizwan’s stance, insiders indicate that the situation has created tension between the player and the management, as the PCB wants all contracted players on board before the upcoming international assignments.
Mohammad Rizwan, who has represented Pakistan across formats and served as captain in T20s, remains a key figure in Pakistan’s cricket setup. His refusal to sign the contract until he receives an explanation suggests growing unease among senior players regarding selection transparency and communication within the board.
As of now, the PCB has not issued a formal statement addressing Rizwan’s concerns, though discussions are reportedly underway to resolve the matter amicably.
