Over 8,000 Fitna-ul-Khawarij Terrorists Active in KP, Officials Warn

Government officials have revealed alarming figures about the presence of over 8,000 Fitna-ul-Khawarij terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), warning that the militants are blending into local populations and carrying out deadly attacks on security forces.

Terrorists Infiltrating from Afghanistan

According to officials, the terrorists have crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan through unmonitored routes. They are currently spread across Peshawar, Tank, DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Swat, Shangla, and Zam, while more than 800 militants are active in Bajaur and Khyber districts.

The militants have reportedly set up illegal checkpoints on key routes, including the CPEC road, DI Khan–Bannu, and Tank, creating serious security challenges. Officials said the terrorists’ use of civilian areas as cover makes it difficult for security forces to retaliate without risking collateral damage.

Casualties and Counter-Operations

Security forces have already suffered losses in these encounters. However, they remain engaged in aggressive counter-operations, killing 80 infiltrators in North Waziristan and Bajaur in recent weeks.

Inspector General (IG) KP Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, told Geo News that the presence of Fitna-ul-Khawarij across several districts, including DI Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bajaur, Waziristan, Khyber, Bannu, and Dir, has been confirmed.

He said that in 190 operations last month alone, 39 militants were killed and 110 arrested. The IG added that strict measures have been taken against the militants’ road blockades, with round-the-clock patrolling on the CPEC route in coordination with the Motorway Police.

Local Reaction and Demands

During jirgas chaired by the KP Chief Minister, tribal elders expressed strong concerns over cross-border infiltration. They demanded that the provincial leadership raise the issue of militant infiltration directly with the Afghan government.

Government’s Stance

KP Information Advisor, Barrister Saif, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling the threat. He stated that the terrorists were indeed infiltrating from Afghanistan, but the government and law enforcement agencies are resolutely fighting the Fitna-ul-Khawarij and will continue to do so.

A Growing Security Challenge

The scale of infiltration underscores the persistent security challenges in KP, where militants exploit porous borders and local populations to regroup and strike. Officials say increased vigilance, community cooperation, and regional diplomacy are essential to curb the threat.
