Pakistan Diverts Oil Imports via Red Sea Amid Strait of Hormuz Closure

Pakistan has begun importing oil via the Red Sea following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor for global crude supplies.

According to sources, a Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) vessel has arrived at Yanbu Port in Saudi Arabia. The ship is scheduled to depart for Karachi tomorrow, carrying 73,000 tons of crude oil for Pakistan.

Oil Transportation Amid Regional Tensions

Shipping sources reported that another PNSC vessel, Shalamar, successfully loaded oil from Fujairah and departed for Karachi.

Meanwhile, two other PNSC ships, Karachi and Charter P. Ali, remain stranded due to the ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the logistical challenges faced by Pakistan’s oil supply chain amid regional conflicts.

Officials say the Red Sea route serves as a critical alternative to ensure Pakistan’s energy security while maintaining continuity in crude oil supplies despite disruptions in the Gulf.
