Pakistan Extends Exemption from Electronic Import Form for Afghan Imports Until June 14, 2025

The Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan has officially extended the exemption period from the Electronic Import Form (EIF) requirement for imports coming from Afghanistan until June 14, 2025.

This extension aims to safeguard and sustain mutual trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which has faced challenges due to the absence of an established banking channel. Previously, the deadline for settling imports from Afghanistan in Pakistani rupees was May 15, 2025. However, proposals regarding the continuation of this exemption were to be finalized after consultations with trade partners, which could not be completed within the initially allotted timeframe.

In response, the Ministry of Commerce has issued a letter extending the EIF exemption period to June 14, 2025, providing additional time for stakeholders to coordinate and establish more formal trade mechanisms.

This move reflects Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining smooth cross-border trade and supporting economic ties with Afghanistan despite banking and regulatory hurdles.
