POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Pakistan Railways has announced the closure of all railway offices across the country on July 17 in observance of the 10th of Muharram, according to officials.
A notification issued by railway authorities cited the decision to honor the significance of the 10th of Muharram, a day of mourning and reflection for the Muslim community. This closure will include all railway reservation offices and related facilities.
Railway officials emphasized that normal operations will resume immediately after July 17, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
"We have decided to keep all railway offices closed on July 17 to respect the solemn occasion of the 10th of Muharram," stated officials, highlighting the temporary nature of the closure.
This measure allows railway staff to observe the day in accordance with religious traditions, while ensuring continuity of services before and after the closure date.
The federal government has also declared public holidays on July 16 (9th of Muharram) and July 17 (10th of Muharram), in observance of these significant dates.
