Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Aamer Raza met with his Saudi counterpart General Fayyadh Bin Hameed Al-Rowaily in Riyadh on Friday to discuss broadening strategic ties and strengthening the mutual defence agreement recently signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The meeting highlighted matters of mutual strategic interest, including bilateral defence cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and advancing collaboration under the mutual defence agreement. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening long-standing fraternal ties, contributing to regional peace, stability, and self-reliance.
A special session of the Pakistan-KSA Bilateral Defence Industrial Forum was also held, led by Lt Gen Raza for Pakistan and Khalid Al Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defence for Executive Affairs, for Saudi Arabia. During the session, both sides reviewed ongoing defence projects and explored new joint ventures in emerging technologies aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
The ISPR added that Pakistan reaffirmed its support for capacity-building of the Royal Saudi Defence Forces, while Saudi leadership appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to counterterrorism and regional stability.
Earlier in September, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement, pledging that any attack on either nation would be treated as aggression against both. The agreement underscores the nations’ shared commitment to enhancing security, achieving regional peace, and strengthening joint deterrence.
