Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed landmark agreements on diplomatic visa exemption, artificial intelligence (AI), and a joint investment task force during the 12th meeting of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission, held in Abu Dhabi.
The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and marked a renewed push to strengthen cooperation across a wide array of strategic sectors.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides agreed to deepen collaboration in key sectors including trade, energy, health, education, IT, defense, railways, manpower, and climate change.
The signed visa-free entry agreement for diplomatic passport holders aims to ease official travel between the two nations, enhancing diplomatic engagement and intergovernmental coordination. The AI agreement signals both nations' intent to jointly explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in governance, business, and digital transformation.
Another key outcome of the session was the formation of a Joint Investment Task Force, intended to streamline and facilitate investment between the two countries, with a focus on sectors like energy, infrastructure, and technology.
The Commission also committed to boosting inter-ministerial coordination, ensuring that progress in one sector translates into complementary cooperation in others. Both sides hailed the meeting as a “productive milestone” in strengthening brotherly relations built on mutual respect and shared goals.
It was also agreed that the 13th session of the Joint Ministerial Commission will be hosted by Pakistan, with preparations to begin in the coming months.
The renewed engagement reflects a broader strategy by both countries to diversify their economic partnerships and enhance regional cooperation through mutually beneficial agreements.
