Pakistani Officials Harassed at Attari Border After Visa Cancellation

Lahore: Pakistani citizens returning from India are reportedly facing severe difficulties after their visas were abruptly cancelled, with some alleging harassment at the Attari border.

According to Geo News, Pakistani nationals — including staff from the Pakistani High Commission — were subjected to mistreatment while returning to the country. Upon reaching the Attari-Wagah border, Indian authorities allegedly seized the passports of Pakistani officials without providing justification.

Officials further reported that members of the Indian media acted aggressively and misbehaved with the Pakistani staff in the presence of Indian security forces. The incident has drawn concern over the treatment of diplomatic personnel, raising questions about India’s adherence to international norms and protocols governing diplomatic conduct.

This latest episode comes amid heightened tensions between the two nations, following a series of political and diplomatic escalations. No official response has yet been issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs regarding the incident.

Observers are calling for diplomatic engagement and adherence to international agreements to avoid further deterioration of relations between the neighboring countries.
