The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced domestic cricket contracts for the 2025–26 season, awarding a record 157 players this year in a major step to strengthen the domestic structure and reward consistent performers.
According to the PCB, the new contracts will remain valid from August 2025 to July 2026, ensuring year-round financial stability and recognition for talented cricketers across the country.
This year, the number of contracted players has been increased from 131 to 157, reflecting the board’s commitment to expanding opportunities for emerging talent.
In another major change, the PCB has introduced four contract categories instead of the previous three-tier structure.
· Category One: 30 players
· Category Two: 55 players
· Category Three: 51 players
· Category Four: 21 players
The PCB stated that the contracts were awarded based on player performance during the previous domestic season, ensuring a merit-based selection process.
Officials said the move aims to motivate players to perform consistently, enhance competition at the domestic level, and provide a strong pipeline of talent for Pakistan’s national teams.
The revamped domestic structure is part of the PCB’s broader plan to align domestic cricket with international standards, offering better financial security, training support, and development pathways for Pakistan’s professional cricketers.
