Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bangwar narrowly escaped injury after a petrol bomb was thrown at him during an operation against encroachments at Karachi’s Le Market.
Speaking to Geo News, Bangwar said the attack occurred while the operation was underway. “An unknown person threw a petrol bomb at me, but I escaped unharmed,” he said. The petrol bomb ignited a shop, which caught fire, but the blaze was brought under control with Bangwar’s assistance.
Authorities acted swiftly, taking three individuals involved in the attack into custody. Despite the incident, the operation against encroachments was successfully completed.
The attack underscores the risks faced by officials enforcing municipal regulations in busy commercial areas of Karachi, where encroachment and illegal structures remain a persistent challenge.
