In light of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to keep its offices in the federal capital, Islamabad, closed for three days. A circular issued by PIA confirms that the offices will remain closed from October 14 to 16.
According to the circular, PIA employees working at the airport in shift-based roles will continue to perform their duties as usual. The decision to close the offices comes as part of security measures being implemented ahead of the high-profile conference.
Additionally, the government has enforced strict security measures in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with Section 144 being imposed from October 12 to 17. Under this order, the entry of ordinary citizens into Islamabad’s red zone has been restricted, and all types of public gatherings, protests, or meetings are banned during this period.
These restrictions are part of heightened security protocols to ensure the smooth conduct of the SCO Conference, which will bring together key international delegates. The public is advised to follow the guidelines and avoid any unnecessary movement in the restricted areas.
PIA customers are encouraged to use online services or visit alternative locations during the three-day closure of the airline's offices in Islamabad.
