The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory warning of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across several districts of Sindh under the influence of a new weather system.
According to the PMD, rain and thunderstorms are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Jamshoro districts, with isolated showers likely in parts of Karachi division. Hot and dry conditions, however, are expected to persist in other parts of the province.
The advisory stated that sea conditions are forecast to remain “rough to very rough,” with squally winds of 40 to 50 km/h, gusting up to 55 km/h, expected along the Sindh coast. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the deep sea until Sunday.
The PMD also cautioned that windstorms and lightning may damage weak structures such as roofs and walls of temporary dwellings, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.
In Karachi, weather is expected to stay mostly cloudy and humid on Saturday, with chances of isolated drizzle. The maximum temperature is forecast to remain between 32°C and 34°C. Morning humidity is predicted at 75–85 per cent, while evening levels may range from 60–70 per cent.
The department added that moist currents from both the Bay of Bengal and the north Arabian Sea are strengthening, expected to bring scattered showers between October 4 and 6.
Authorities have urged residents and fishermen to remain cautious during the forecast period.
