PTA Denies Reports of Jazz Overcharging Customers

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has strongly rejected reports circulating on social media suggesting that Jazz imposed additional tariffs on its customers without approval.

In a statement issued on Thursday, PTA clarified that no such incident of overcharging has taken place, and the news being shared is misleading.

The telecom regulator stated that the circulating claims alleged Jazz had charged extra tariffs during the financial year 2023-24 without PTA’s consent. However, PTA explained that the tariff adjustments mentioned in the audit observations were in line with the regulatory framework and had received formal approval from the authority.

According to PTA, all authentic records regarding these approvals were shared with the audit authorities for verification.

The statement further emphasized that PTA remains committed to protecting consumer interests and ensuring a transparent and fair telecom system in Pakistan. It also reassured the public that the authority is continuously monitoring operators’ tariffs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in practice.

By issuing this clarification, PTA sought to counter misinformation and maintain public trust in the regulatory oversight of the telecom sector.
