PTI Fields Hammad Azhar for NA-129 By-Election, PML-N Eyes Big Name

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field Hammad Azhar in the upcoming NA-129 by-election in Lahore, a seat that fell vacant after the death of his father, Mian Azhar, a sitting Member of the National Assembly.

According to PTI sources, the party has finalized Hammad Azhar’s name for the crucial contest. However, in the event of any legal hurdles, an alternate candidate from Hammad Azhar’s family will be fielded to retain the seat for PTI.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is actively exploring its options. While names like Mian Noman, Rana Mashhood, and Mehr Ishtiaq have begun lobbying internally, the PML-N leadership is also considering fielding a prominent figure, possibly a senior party stalwart, to take on the PTI candidate in what could be a high-stakes electoral showdown in Lahore.

Sources from both parties indicate that the final decision on candidates will be made once the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officially announces the by-election schedule.

NA-129 is considered a key political battleground in Lahore, with both PTI and PML-N eager to prove their strength and public support in the provincial capital ahead of possible future general elections or political transitions.

The by-election is expected to gain national attention due to the political legacies involved and the possibility of prominent figures entering the fray.
