PTI Leader Yasir Gilani Detained in Shahdara as Party Convoy Heads to Lahore

Law enforcement agencies in Shahdara detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Yasir Gilani along with three other party workers amid heightened political movement as the PTI convoy progresses from Islamabad to Lahore.

According to reports, police officers, including plainclothes personnel, launched a crackdown in Shahdara, where PTI supporters had gathered to receive the party leadership’s convoy. Eyewitnesses stated that attempts were made to disperse the crowd, which resulted in the detention of multiple individuals, including the prominent PTI Lahore figure Yasir Gilani.

The move has raised concerns among PTI members and political observers about increased suppression of political activity as the opposition rallies support.

Simultaneously, a separate convoy of parliamentarians led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reached Ferozewala, continuing its journey as part of a larger mobilization effort initiated by the PTI leadership.

The developments come at a time when tensions are rising between the government and opposition, particularly over constitutional, electoral, and governance issues in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI has yet to issue a formal statement on the arrests, but insiders suggest the move could further escalate protest momentum as the party mobilizes across key cities in Punjab.
