POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail have called for the immediate transfer of Bushra Bibi to a hospital, citing serious concerns over her deteriorating health.
The demand was made in a joint statement issued through their legal representatives by prominent PTI leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Omar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mahmood ur Rasheed.
In their statement, the leaders expressed deep concern over what they described as the worsening health condition of the former first lady. They alleged that Bushra Bibi was being subjected to political victimisation and stressed the need for urgent medical attention.
The incarcerated leaders demanded that Bushra Bibi be provided with comprehensive and immediate healthcare facilities, including her transfer to a hospital for proper diagnosis and treatment.
They also urged the judiciary to promptly hear her pending applications for suspension of sentence, which they described as related to “bogus cases.” The statement further called on the courts to suspend her sentence and order her immediate release.
The appeal adds to the growing political and legal pressure surrounding the cases involving Bushra Bibi, who remains in custody amid ongoing proceedings linked to multiple high-profile cases involving former prime minister Imran Khan.
The situation continues to draw attention from political circles, with PTI leaders intensifying calls for relief on humanitarian and legal grounds.
