A crucial meeting of the negotiation committee tasked with resolving the issue of the 26 suspended members of the Punjab Assembly began today, signaling potential political de-escalation within the provincial legislature.

The meeting is being chaired by senior parliamentarian Rana Muhammad Iqbal and includes prominent leaders from both the government and opposition benches.

The suspension of 26 MPAs had triggered tensions in the assembly, with opposition parties demanding their reinstatement and labeling the action as politically motivated. Today’s dialogue is seen as a positive step toward easing the deadlock and restoring a working relationship across party lines.

“The committee is committed to fostering a cooperative environment and resolving the matter in the interest of democracy,” a source privy to the meeting told reporters.
