Rana Sanaullah: Informal Talks with PTI on Constitutional Amendments, Approval Expected in October

Rana Sanaullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, has revealed that informal discussions have been held with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the draft of the proposed constitutional amendments. Sanaullah expressed optimism that the amendments could be approved in the first week of October, despite recent challenges and setbacks.

Speaking on Geo News' program Geo Pakistan, Sanaullah emphasized that while there have been temporary obstacles, these should not be viewed as a failure of the government. "The informal talks with PTI have been positive. They also recognize the potential improvements the amendments could bring," he said.

The proposed constitutional amendments aim to address issues within the judicial system, which Sanaullah noted has been hampered by inefficiencies affecting the progress of other cases. The adviser highlighted that resolving these issues is crucial for ensuring that the judicial system operates effectively and that cases are processed in a timely manner.

Despite recent difficulties, including delays and negotiations with various political factions, the government remains committed to advancing these amendments. Sanaullah’s comments suggest that there is a concerted effort to build consensus and achieve the necessary support for the amendments.

The anticipated approval of the amendments in early October would mark a significant step in addressing ongoing challenges within the judicial system. By seeking input and collaboration with opposition parties like PTI, the government aims to create a more robust and effective legal framework.

As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the political developments surrounding these amendments and the government's ability to navigate the complexities of the legislative process. The outcome of these efforts will likely have a substantial impact on the functioning of Pakistan’s judicial system and the broader political landscape.
