Rawalpindi Police Accuse Bashira Bibi in 11 May 9 Cases; PTI Founder Seeks Bail in Anti-Terrorism Court
Rawalpindi police have named Bashira Bibi as an accused in 11 cases related to the May 9 attacks, including the assault on the GHQ. The details of these cases were presented in the Islamabad High Court, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations against her.
In a related development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed four cases against Bashira Bibi—three in Rawalpindi and one in Lahore. NAB prosecutor submitted this information in response to the court’s inquiry, indicating the scale of the legal proceedings against her.
The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Balochistan Police, directing them to submit their responses by Monday. This move underscores the court's effort to ensure a thorough review of the ongoing investigations.
Simultaneously, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has filed for bail in 12 cases related to the May 9 incidents. Through his lawyer, Salman Safdar, Khan's legal team has argued that he is already on judicial remand in all cases, with no recoveries made from him. They claim that the cases against him are motivated by political revenge and requested bail, citing the lack of substantive evidence.
As these legal battles unfold, both Bashira Bibi and Imran Khan face significant scrutiny amid ongoing political and legal controversies.
