Renowned Historian Ramzan Dildar Chadhar Shot Dead in Matli

Renowned historian, poet, and author of 13 books, Muhammad Ramzan Chadhar “Ramzan Dildar,” was brutally murdered in the middle of the city by unknown gunmen. The incident sent shockwaves across Matli, leaving the literary community in mourning.

Murder in Broad Daylight

As per reports, Ramzan Dildar had arrived at a local market to buy vegetables when two unknown assailants opened fire on him. He was shot five times—four bullets to the head and one to the chest—killing him on the spot.

Following the murder, the killers confirmed his death before escaping on a motorcycle. The attack created panic in the marketplace, with shopkeepers hurriedly locking their shops.

Police Investigation & Arrests

Soon after the incident, Matli police sealed the crime scene and transported the body to Taluka Hospital via an Edhi ambulance, where a post-mortem confirmed five bullet wounds.

DSP Matli Ijaz Ahmed later announced that two suspects, Abdul Jabbar and Ghulam Mujtabi Jat, had been arrested.

🛑 Confession by the Accused:
The arrested suspects confessed that they killed Ramzan Dildar over an honor-related dispute. They alleged that his son had eloped with a woman from their family four months ago and that government officials did not return her despite their complaints. Feeling helpless, they carried out the attack as an act of revenge.

Funeral & Community Outcry

Ramzan Dildar was laid to rest at Maulvi Nazar Muhammad Cemetery, attended by hundreds of mourners, including civil society leaders, writers, and activists.

  • Musafar Halipoto, Yunus Rustamani, and Sarai Javed Akhtar hailed him as a symbol of knowledge and peace.
