The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has finalized preparations for the issuance of new currency notes, sources confirmed, with the designs currently awaiting federal government approval.
According to sources, the Security Printing Corporation has completed all preparations for printing the new notes, which will feature modern security elements to curb counterfeiting and enhance public confidence.
The final step before printing is cabinet approval, after which the SBP will issue the order to begin production of the currency notes. The new notes are expected to enter circulation by the end of 2026, sources said.
The selected designs of the new currency notes have already been submitted to the government for approval, signaling that Pakistan is moving closer to a major update in its monetary system.
