Supreme Court to Add Two Judges to Constitutional Bench, Judicial Commission Meeting Set

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has decided to add two more judges to its Constitutional Bench, with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi summoning a crucial meeting of the Judicial Commission to finalize the appointments.

According to reports from Geo News, the meeting is scheduled for April 18, where the Judicial Commission will discuss the addition of these judges to the Constitutional Bench, a critical body responsible for interpreting Pakistan’s Constitution in landmark cases.

In addition to this, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has also called another meeting of the Judicial Commission on May 2. This meeting will focus on selecting permanent appointments for the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and the Balochistan High Court. These discussions will determine who will lead these key provincial courts going forward.

To facilitate the process, Chief Justice Afridi has requested that members of the Judicial Commission submit their nominations by April 28, paving the way for the upcoming deliberations.

The decisions made in these meetings are expected to have a profound impact on the judicial landscape of Pakistan, particularly in relation to the Constitutional Bench, which plays a pivotal role in interpreting the country's laws and Constitution.
