Terrorist Attack on Kurram Convoy Claims More Lives, 7 Drivers Martyred and Trucks Looted

The tragic terrorist attack on a convoy heading to Kurram yesterday has led to a rising death toll. The number of martyred personnel now stands at two, with the additional deaths of seven drivers involved in the attack. Police reports confirm that the bodies of four out of the five missing drivers have been found, further intensifying the grim aftermath of the incident.

The terrorist attack also resulted in the looting and burning of trucks, as business leaders reported widespread damage to the convoy. The trucks, carrying essential goods such as medicines, fruits, vegetables, and other food items, were targeted after the attack, with significant losses incurred.

The convoy had initially been dispatched with 35 freight vehicles, accompanied by a heavy security presence, including police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other forces. Despite these precautions, the convoy fell victim to a coordinated attack, resulting in the tragic loss of life. In the retaliatory action by the security forces, six attackers were killed.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ali, three vehicles in the convoy were damaged during the attack. As a result of the incident, the convoy was halted and redirected back from its intended route to Kurram for safety.

This terrorist attack highlights the ongoing security challenges faced in the region, where attacks on convoys and security forces have been a persistent concern. The attack also underscores the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure in conflict zones, leaving a heavy toll on both personnel and the local economy.
