Tragic Bus Accident Claims 28 Lives in Balochistan's Washuk District

A devastating accident in Balochistan's Washuk district has resulted in the loss of at least 28 lives, including women and children, as a passenger bus overturned and plunged into a ditch on Wednesday morning.

Rescue and Levies officials reported that approximately 22 individuals sustained injuries in the tragic incident and have been transported to the Civil Hospital in Basima for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred due to a burst tyre on the passenger bus, which was en route from Gwadar to Quetta.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his condolences to the bereaved families and urged relevant authorities to provide immediate assistance to the injured.

Balochistan's Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also offered his sympathies to the families of the deceased and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.

This unfortunate incident adds to a string of recent accidents across Pakistan. In May, a similar mishap in Punjab's Khushab district claimed 13 lives when a truck lost control due to brake failure and plunged into a ditch. Additionally, 20 individuals lost their lives in Gilgit Baltistan's Diamer district after a passenger bus veered off a mountain road and fell into a ravine.

The series of accidents underscore the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and stricter enforcement of road regulations to prevent further loss of life on Pakistan's roads.
