Ukrainian Attack on Belgorod Leaves Five Dead and 46 Injured

A Ukrainian attack on the southwestern Russian city of Belgorod resulted in five deaths and 46 injuries late Friday night, according to local officials. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, reported that among the injured, 37 individuals, including seven children, were hospitalized.

Social media has circulated a video, reportedly from a car dashboard camera, that depicts a car being exploded while in motion, followed by another explosion on the opposite side of the road. The authenticity of this footage has yet to be independently verified by Reuters.

In response to the attack, Russia's Investigation Committee announced it has initiated a criminal case to investigate the incident. The Belgorod attack underscores the escalating violence in the region amid ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Additionally, authorities reported that shelling from Ukraine also targeted the nearby border town of Shebekino on Saturday, injuring a woman. This highlights the broader impact of the conflict on civilian areas within Russia.

As tensions continue to rise, both sides are engaged in a broader struggle that has seen increasing casualties and damage to infrastructure. The situation remains fluid as investigations into these attacks proceed.
