The United States has announced the phased closure of its Consulate General in Peshawar, marking a significant shift in its diplomatic presence in Pakistan.

According to the US State Department, the decision has been taken primarily due to security concerns for diplomatic staff as well as the need to better allocate resources.

As part of this move, all consular services and operations currently handled in Peshawar will be transferred to the US Embassy in Islamabad, ensuring continuity of services for American citizens and visa applicants.
