According to a British news agency, the U.S. administration is reassessing security and screening systems in various countries, which could lead to restrictions on entry for travelers from specific nations.
An executive order issued by the U.S. President on January 20 emphasized the need for stricter vetting of individuals entering the country to mitigate potential security threats. The order directed cabinet members to identify countries with weak screening processes, recommending partial or complete travel bans.
Sources indicate that Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the countries being considered for a complete travel ban. If implemented, the restrictions could impact thousands of Afghan nationals who have already received clearance for resettlement in the U.S. These include Afghans who worked alongside U.S. forces and were granted refugee or special visas due to fears of Taliban retaliation.
If these restrictions come into effect, they could significantly impact diplomatic relations and humanitarian efforts in the region.
