POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defeating terrorism across the country, emphasizing that the nation would soon emerge victorious in its ongoing struggle against extremist threats.
Speaking on the current security situation, Talal Chaudhry said that while Pakistan had successfully countered terrorism in 2013, challenges persist, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He highlighted the increasing sophistication of terrorist attacks, noting similarities between recent incidents, including the Islamabad courthouse blast, and tactics used in Afghanistan.
The minister stressed the use of Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which prohibits large gatherings, as a preventive measure against potential terrorist attacks during public events. He further warned that government resources should not be exploited for political purposes, and violators would face strict action.
Talal Chaudhry also pointed out the use of VPNs by terrorists to conceal their locations, underlining the evolving threat landscape. “The lives of thousands of other people, including those living in Adiala Jail, are at risk. We are determined to eliminate terrorism from across the country,” he said.
The minister concluded by emphasizing that Pakistan’s security forces are vigilant and prepared to ensure the safety of citizens and public institutions while taking firm action against any breach of law and order.
