The most important reason for the rapid spread of cancer cases around the world has been discovered

Cancer is a rapidly spreading disease worldwide that causes millions of deaths every year.

Now experts have discovered the main reason behind the significant increase in cancer cases and that is obesity.

This was revealed in a medical study in Sweden.

4.1 million people were included in the study by the University of Lund in Sweden.

The study looked at people's body weight and lifestyle over four decades, while also taking into account 122 types of cancer.

Research has found that excess body weight significantly increases the risk of developing cancer.

According to research, there is a link between 32 types of cancer and obesity.

In fact, obesity plays a role in 4 out of every 10 cancer cases.

Earlier in 2016, the International Agency for Research had reported that obesity increases the risk of developing 13 types of cancer, but this study identified 19 more types.

The study also found that even a modest increase in body weight increased the risk of certain types of cancer by 24 percent in men and 13 percent in women.

The results of this research will be presented soon at the European Congress on Obesity.

Earlier in May 2023, another study from the University of Lyon reported that obesity may or may not harm metabolic health, but increasing body weight definitely increases the risk of several types of cancer.

The study found that increasing the amount of fat in the body increases the risk of various types of cancer.

The body weight and metabolic health of nearly 800,000 people were assessed for the study.

These individuals were divided into 6 groups considering different types of obesity.

The results found that harmful types of obesity increase the risk of cancers of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, kidney and gastrointestinal organs.

The risk of liver and kidney cancer in such people is 2.5 to 3 times higher than others.

In contrast, healthy forms of obesity increase the risk of kidney, colon and other types of cancer.

The results of this study were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
