MILITARY
Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar on Wednesday released operational details of Pakistan’s ongoing Operation Ghazbad-ul-Haq, stating that hundreds of Afghan Taliban operatives have been killed since the start of the campaign.
According to the minister, the Pakistan Army launched the operation in response to what he described as “unprovoked actions” by the Afghan Taliban along the border.
Tarar said that 641 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime have been killed so far, while more than 855 have been injured during the ongoing military campaign.
Check Posts and Military Assets Targeted
Providing further details, the information minister said Pakistani forces have destroyed 243 Taliban check posts, while 42 additional posts were captured and later blown up during the operation.
He added that Pakistani airstrikes targeted 65 militant positions and supporting infrastructure inside Afghanistan.
According to the figures shared by Tarar, Pakistani forces have also destroyed 219 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns belonging to Taliban forces.
Border Engagement in North Waziristan
Meanwhile, security sources reported that the Pakistan Army also targeted an Afghan Taliban post near the border adjacent to Shawal in North Waziristan.
The targeted post was effectively destroyed during the operation, according to security officials.
Operation to Continue
Security sources emphasised that Operation Ghazbad-ul-Haq remains ongoing and will continue until its objectives are achieved.
Officials say the operation is part of Pakistan’s broader effort to secure its western border and respond to security threats emanating from across the border with Afghanistan.
Authorities have not yet indicated a timeline for the conclusion of the operation but reiterated that military actions will persist until the situation along the border stabilises.
