90-Day Protest Plan Not PTI’s Decision: Salman Akram Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has clarified that the party has not approved any 90-day protest campaign, stating that the announcement made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is his personal statement, not an official PTI policy.

“The 90-day matter is Gandapur’s own opinion—it’s not a party decision,” said Raja, asserting that PTI’s movement is strategically aligned with August 5, the date that marks two years of Imran Khan’s imprisonment.

During a press conference in Lahore, Gandapur had previously declared a nationwide 90-day campaign to mobilize the public. However, this has sparked internal confusion and concern.

PTI Punjab President Alia Hamza also publicly questioned the announcement, asking:

·       “What official action plan was decided for Khan Sahib’s release?”

·       “Where and how will this movement be executed?”

·       “Why was a 90-day timeline introduced instead of building toward August 5?”

Salman Raja Stresses Ideological Struggle

Responding to these concerns, Salman Akram Raja reiterated that PTI remains focused on restoring the Constitution and democracy in Pakistan. He said the people have rallied behind PTI because of its ideological foundation, not political gimmicks.

“We are in a dark era. Expecting justice from the courts is a fantasy—this entire system has been turned into a tool of oppression.”

Raja emphasized that PTI is fighting for a greater cause, one rooted in constitutional supremacy and democratic values, not just street politics.

On Imran Khan’s Sons

Raja also commented on the political future of Imran Khan’s sons, saying:

“They are welcome to return to Pakistan. It is their right to fight for their father’s cause if they choose.”

Internal Party Messaging in Focus

His statement reflects a growing need for message discipline within PTI, as divergent plans by provincial leaders could undercut the central strategy tied to the symbolic date of August 5.

“Our goal is historical, and we are in a decisive phase of political resistance. The people should rise, and Pakistan must be realigned with its constitutional path,” Raja said.
