Fazlur Rehman Urges Moderation with PTI, Slams Both Govt and Opposition

Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday clarified that while he is not ending his political rivalry with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he wishes to maintain moderation in political relations, stating that “differences should remain as differences and not hostility.”

Speaking to media representatives in Charsadda, Fazlur Rehman expressed deep concerns over the political and legal challenges facing his party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He criticized both the opposition parties and the ruling PML-N for taking confrontational routes, including legal petitions targeting his party members.

“The opposition in KP is approaching courts to suspend their own members, and now even the PML-N has gone to court against us,” Fazl lamented.
“They must consider who actually benefits from this political warfare.”

He warned that such actions erode political trust and unity, questioning the feasibility of supporting no-confidence motions under such strained circumstances.

Call for Political Change in KP – From Within PTI

Maulana Fazl also stated that change is necessary in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but emphasized that this change must come from within the PTI itself.

“There’s a need for transformation in KP, but that change won’t be meaningful if it doesn’t emerge from within the PTI ranks,” he asserted.

On Peace, Governance, and Regional Diplomacy

Commenting on regional stability, Fazlur Rehman advocated for improved relations with Afghanistan, urging the government to prioritize negotiations over confrontation.

He also criticized the government’s lack of seriousness in restoring law and order, saying that the state has the power to restore peace if it genuinely commits to the cause.

“The state is not weak. If it wants, it can control the unrest. Unfortunately, the intent to establish peace seems to be missing,” he said.

Political Landscape Remains Volatile

Fazlur Rehman’s remarks reflect growing frustration within the JUI-F, which finds itself at odds with both the government and opposition in KP. As political realignments continue amid legal battles and upcoming protest movements, the JUI-F’s stance could play a pivotal role in shaping KP’s future political trajectory.
