The Balochistan Health Department has taken strict disciplinary action against medical staff who were absent during the Eid holidays at Quetta’s Civil Hospital. According to official sources, the department has terminated 15 nurses and taken punitive measures against several doctors and trainees for their unauthorized leave.

A spokesperson for the Health Department confirmed that the crackdown followed a review of staff attendance at the hospital during the Eid period. The absence of key medical personnel reportedly disrupted patient care and drew public criticism.

As a result, the department has:

  • Dismissed 15 contract nurses for unexcused absenteeism
  • Ordered stoppage of salaries for doctors and nurses found absent
  • Initiated action against 18 postgraduate trainees and house officers

The Health Department emphasized that public service employees, especially in the healthcare sector, have a responsibility to remain on duty during critical periods such as public holidays. It also warned that similar action would be taken against any future violations.

Civil Hospital Quetta, being one of the largest government healthcare facilities in the province, plays a crucial role in providing emergency and routine medical care. The absence of staff during high-demand periods like Eid has been seen as a serious lapse in duty.

Officials said investigations are ongoing and more disciplinary measures may follow if further negligence is found. The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring discipline, accountability, and uninterrupted medical services to the public.
