HEALTH

The Khushal Khan Khattak Express, en route from Peshawar to Karachi, derailed near Kandhkot railway station on Saturday, causing six of its eight bogies to go off track. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported among passengers.
According to railway officials, the train was moving at a slow speed due to its proximity to the station, which helped prevent a major disaster. However, the derailment caused significant damage to both the train and the railway track.
🚨 Cause of Derailment
Sources within Pakistan Railways attributed the incident to aging rail infrastructure and ongoing repair work, which has left portions of the track weak and unstable. The derailment has raised concerns once again about the safety of railway operations and the urgent need for upgrades to the country’s railway system.
🤝 Emergency Response
Soon after the incident, officials from the district administration, Rangers, and local police arrived at the scene to oversee relief operations and ensure the safety of passengers.
🔁 Service Disruption
Due to the derailment, the Khushal Khan Khattak Express traveling from Karachi to Peshawar was halted at Jacobabad for three hours, leaving passengers stranded in the intense heat. Many complained of discomfort and illness due to lack of ventilation and basic amenities.
To mitigate further delay, the Peshawar-bound train was later rerouted via the Rohri line to continue its journey.
