POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Pakistan and the United States have renewed their commitment to working together to eliminate terrorism in all its forms, with a focus on strengthening security cooperation and counter-terrorism capabilities.
High-level counter-terrorism talks were held between the two countries, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Nabil Munir and the US representative Gregory De Lugerfo.
In a joint statement issued by the US Embassy, both sides underscored the importance of addressing threats posed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The discussions also covered strategies to tackle emerging security challenges, including the application of modern technology in counter-terrorism operations.
The two nations agreed to strengthen institutional frameworks, improve information sharing, and enhance capacity building to better respond to evolving threats.
The United States acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements in curbing terrorism and expressed condolences over recent terror incidents, including the tragic Khuzdar school bus attack and the Jafar Express incident, which claimed multiple lives.
The renewed cooperation reflects both nations’ shared recognition that transnational terrorism poses a continuing threat to regional and global peace, and that collective action remains essential to confronting it effectively.
