Scotland Yard Ends Investigation into Tasneem Haider's Allegations Against Sharif Family

London: Scotland Yard has officially closed its investigation into the serious allegations made by Tasneem Haider, which implicated Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and other associates in the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif. The decision follows an extensive year and a half-long probe by the Counter Terrorist Command Unit.
Tasneem Haider had alleged that the Sharif family and their associates were involved in the conspiracy to murder Arshad Sharif, who was killed in November 2022. Additionally, Haider had implicated the founder of PTI in an attack in Wazirabad.
Scotland Yard's investigation initially began with a scoping exercise to review the claims, which led to a formal investigation being handed over to the Counter Terrorist Command Unit. However, the unit has now concluded that there is no substantial evidence to support Haider’s allegations against Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and other individuals including Salim Raza, Nasir Mahmood, Zubirgul, and Rashid Nasrullah.
In a statement, the Counter Terrorist Command Unit confirmed that the investigation has been terminated and that there is no need for further formal inquiries. The police have communicated this decision to Tasneem Haider, who had claimed to possess evidence supporting her accusations.
The conclusion of this investigation marks the end of a high-profile case that had significant political implications in Pakistan. The decision reinforces the importance of substantiating serious allegations with credible evidence, especially when involving high-profile individuals.
