US Ambassador Condemns Israel's Starvation Policy in Gaza at UN Security Council Meeting

In a significant development during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council convened at the request of Britain, France, and Algeria, the US ambassador criticized Israel's starvation policy in Gaza as "appalling and unacceptable." This statement highlights growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in the region.
The US ambassador emphasized that such policies could have serious implications under both international and US law, calling for immediate delivery of food and other humanitarian aid to Gaza. He further advocated for designated breaks in hostilities to allow for the safe delivery and distribution of vaccinations and essential aid.
Joyce Masuya, the acting head of the United Nations office concerning aid to Gaza, echoed these sentiments, describing the situation as unbearable and noting that UN aid agencies have not been granted access to the affected areas.
During the meeting, the Palestinian Permanent Representative condemned Israeli attacks as war crimes, asserting that the Palestinian and Lebanese people are suffering due to concessions made to Israel. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Additionally, the Chinese permanent representative pointed out that the United States has provided over $17 billion in military aid to Israel since October 2023, stressing that resolutions regarding aid access should be upheld.
Amid these discussions, the Israeli ambassador claimed that Hamas is manipulating the humanitarian situation as a weapon against Israel.
As the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, calls for immediate international action to address the humanitarian crisis grow louder.
