Aimal Wali Khan Criticises PTI and PML-N Over Praise for Trump

President of the Awami National Party, Aimal Wali Khan, has criticised major political parties in Pakistan for what he described as contradictory narratives regarding former US President Donald Trump.

Speaking in Peshawar, Aimal Wali Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had initially claimed that if Trump returned to power, he would act as a “savior” for the party.

However, he remarked that after circumstances changed and the expectations were not fulfilled, the same figure was now being portrayed by PTI supporters as a symbol of failure.

“Initially PTI had also announced that if Trump comes to power, he will prove to be a savior for them,” Aimal Wali said.

He added that the narrative had shifted after Trump allegedly distanced himself from the party’s expectations.

“When Trump turned his back, now the same character has become a symbol of failure for them,” he said.

The ANP leader also criticised the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N), claiming that within its circles, Trump was now being portrayed as a “messiah”.

According to Aimal Wali Khan, such shifting political positions reflect broader contradictions in political discourse.

Concerns over global politics

The ANP president also expressed concern over the direction of global politics and the impact of ideological extremism on international stability.

He warned that what he described as “fanatical thinking” was pushing the world toward destruction.

“A fanatical mind is pushing the entire world towards destruction,” he said while questioning whether global values, principles and laws still held any significance in the current international environment.

Questions about global institutions

Aimal Wali Khan further questioned the effectiveness of international institutions that claim to safeguard peace and justice.

He asked where the global organisations were that traditionally present themselves as guarantors of stability and fairness in world affairs.

“Where are the global institutions that claim to be the guarantors of peace and justice?” he asked.

The ANP leader’s remarks come amid heightened global political tensions and increasing debates in Pakistan regarding international alliances and foreign policy narratives.
